Hi there - Thanks for taking a peek at my "About Me" page. Here is a bit about me -
My name is Lisa Ormiston. I’m a native Californian who dreams of owning a chunk of land in the Pacific Northwest where I can grow tons of flowers, fruits, and vegetables - and have a place for my dog(s) to run. This blog is where I share my current obsessions, projects, and opinions.
I have a Bachelors degree in art from U.C. Santa Cruz, but consider myself much more of a craftsperson/artisan rather than an artist. And, with so many interests, I’m a dabbler rather than a specialist. Past or current diversions include (but by no means limited to) silversmithing, shoe making, costume design/fabrication, flower making, and illustration.
I tend to collect old stuff - with the justification that I can learn from it and/or incorporate it into the things I make - but maybe I just really like it.
For the past decade, I have worked periodically as a museum exhibit fabricator - mostly for natural history museums. I have made botanically correct plant models, fake rocks, animal models, aquarium inserts, etc.
